The Guild will be holding its Fall Sale from Nov. 6-9. Members are frantically finishing pieces and the kilns are all booked with some amazing work being loaded and unloaded. I’m learning so much from being in this community of talented artists. It’s like being back in school, bouncing creative ideas and conversation back and forth with the upperclassmen.

I have not been as productive as the “upperclassmen”, but I’ve decided to participate in the sale to get my feet wet and at least help the Guild in the running of the sale. I’m seeking the experience, more than any marketing success.

I’m learning and relearning and trying to shadow as many of the kiln firings as possible. Much of the details are reminders of when I was a T.A. in Ceramics and Sculpture at Riverside City College while also pursuing my degree at UC Riverside.

My hope is to create some work that I can plan and schedule for my very first solo firing after the Fall sale. Christmas is coming up, I have a couple of “spec” commissions that need addressing.. and I can’t wait to play with the fire.
